Hello Seattle Presbytery! May 4, 2008

On April 1, you voted to call me to serve as the Executive Presbyter for Seattle Presbytery. On April 30, I woke up at 4 am and hopped a plane to San Francisco to begin my service (more on that later). As Karen Breckenridge announced this past Sunday morning at Wedgwood, I have been “on the job” for only a few days, but even in that short amount of time there have been many things that I have learned that bear on our ministry in the presbytery.
Thus I introduce you to presbytery :: blog an extension of our Seattle Presbytery website. It is yet one more place for us to talk about what God is doing in, around and among us, in our various ministries in Seattle Presbytery. Keep checking back for opportunities to get to know what is happening in our presbytery and what I am up to as your executive presbyter.

God bless you as you begin your ministry at the Presbytery! This blog is a great idea. Lee has been thinking about starting something similar at Mt. Baker Park Church. It’s a great way for people to connect.

I second Lisa’s comment that this is a great idea. In fact, what about creating a space somewhere for a growing list of blogs by Presbyterians of Seattle Presbytery (both clergy and lay)? Seems like a simple and relevant criteria. The point being – let’s get into each other’s heads and hearts and minds, and also see what God is doing through the richness of Presbyterians here in the presbytery.

i like the idea of a blogroll. it’s a built-in element of this blog already. i’ll toy around with it. i thought the same for our churches. just a list of the websites for our churches–and ministries. perhaps two lists.

Many blessings on you and your family as you’ve taken the helm! On behalf of Samaritan Center of Puget Sound, be assured of our prayer covering for you. I appreciate all the above comments. Dave is also ‘cutting edge’ in the tech realm, having talked for some time re using blogs. I’d also like to see how one could subscribe to your blog, so that an email prompt and link arrives every time the blog is updated. I may have missed the link, but is there a place on your blog-site to subscribe? Or perhaps you’ve made it automatic.

Hi Scott! I am so glad you are here with us and I look forward to meeting you very soon. (Likely next week at Presbytery with hundreds of others. Maybe we should get you some kind of photo cheat-sheet to help you remember names….) =)
I am with Michael in wanting some kind of email to alert me to new posts. Otherwise I think it will slip off my radar. I think this blog is a great idea.
