About Us

Seattle Presbytery is a mission partnership of 55 congregations (pcusa) and 10 ethnic fellowships in the greater Seattle area. The geography of our mission extends beyond the emerald city, reaching into the valleys and vistas of Auburn, Enumclaw and Maple Valley (south) to the suburban foothills of Bothell, and lively views of Ballard and North Seattle. West Seattle, Magnolia and Burien are western boundaries on the mainland, but across the sound we are connected in Christ’s mission to congregations in Central Kitsap, Silverdale and Bremerton. The scenic islands of Vashon and Bainbridge are part of our mission territory as well.

On April 1, the Seattle Presbytery voted to call me, Scott Lumsden, to serve this missional body as its Executive Presbyter, and thus I have been actively engaged in this ministry since April 30–my first day on the job so to speak. The work of an executive presbyter is as varied and rich as the ministry we share, so in order to keep you informed and engaged as to what I am doing as your executive, I created this website, presbytery :: blog, as an extension of our main website for Seattle Presbytery.

This website is a place for all of us to talk about what God is doing in, around, and among us in the Seattle Presbytery. Keep checking back for opportunities to get to know what is happening in our presbytery and what I am up to as your executive presbyter.

Peace. Scott

Dear Scott,
Welcome to Executive Service. My heart warms to think of the amazing relationships and ministry experiences that are in store for you. I loved my sixteen years of executive service at the Presbytery level. The Holy Spirit will guide you and empower you and build amazing bridges between servants who are seeking the mind of Christ. And in the hard times – the Comforter will provide a balm.
Glad we are neighbors!
